Sail-World.com : Photo editing – life has become a Picnik

Photo editing – life has become a Picnik

.
In this digital world, we find there are lots of people who just don’t have a handle on cropping and editing images.

We cut our teeth on the 1990’s industry classic graphic software Photoshop, so we’ve tended to say to everyone - well that is what you need. The problem is it is an expensive piece of software and it’s really not that easy to use.

There is a free online solution we now recommend very strongly. It’s called Picnik

A 2005 Seattle start up, Picnik is an online photo editing service. You can use it to edit images from your camera, your computer, from a webite.

It can import photos natively from Facebook, Myspace, Picasa Web Albums, Flickr, Yahoo Image search. Many of Picnik's basic photo editing tools are free to use. Picnik Premium includes additional photo editing features and is offered for a monthly, 6-month, or annual subscription cost.

If the only really important thing you discover today is www.picnik.com then you will have had a great day.

For anyone who has to provide or use images online, this is a MUST.

All you really really need to be able to do with an image, for online use is

1. Sharpen the image
2. Straighten the horizon
3. Crop the image
4. Adjust the file size
5. Colour correct
5. Rename the file

With Picnik, you can do this and much more, merge images, create collages, add copy, layers, create collages, add text.

There is now NO excuse to present files that are way too large, dull, crooked, with a horizon three degrees off line.

Contributors or potential contributors to Sail-World.com, Powerboat-world.com and MarineBusiness-World.com need to ensure they ....
