BarzOptics worldwide vision for 2012
'Floater from BarzOptics'
Barz Optics Kevin Barr
2012 is another busy year for Barz Optics, this week a proud sponsor of the World Etchell Titles, held off Manly Sydney 20-25 February.
'The Etchells are one of the most heavily contested classes in world sailing with Olympians, World Champions and America’s Cup Greats competing against each other,' says Kevin Barr. 'We have provided our new ‘Floater’ model sunglasses as prizes for a crew in each of the six races.'
Next on the agenda for BarzOptics is the official launch of its kids’ floater range at The RYA Volvo Dinghy Show in London, 3 and 4 March.
'It’s a boat show that only has the Olympic class boats, so I figure it’s a great branding opportunity since the Olympics are in London a couple of months later. Plus we are hoping to establish a UK distributor.'
From London, Kevin will travel to Geneva to meet up with the company’s Swiss distributor, then to Milan, Italy for the world's biggest optical show where he is buying rather than exhibiting. BarzOptics will be exhibiting with AIMEX at the Dubai International Boat Show, 13-17 March.
Central to this year’s marketing and promotion is the innovative new model, 'The Floater'. This range is available in six different lens configurations - polarised acetate, polarised acetate photochromic (lighten to Cat 2 in low light and darken to Cat 3 in full sun), polarised polycarbonate, polarised polycarbonate with bi-focals, NXT polarised photochromic and also prescription.
As Kevin explains: 'The Floater fitted with acetate polarised lenses has a buoyancy of 950g/ml while fresh water is 1.00g/ml and salt ranges from 1.30g/ml to 1.50g/ml. Hence as they are less dense than fresh water they float even in the most turbulent conditions – ideal for all kinds of boating, water sports and swimming.'
