'Thomas Coville, Skipper Maxi Trimaran Sodebo'

Boatbuilder McConaghy and architect Renaud Banuls are pleased to officially announce the nomination of Thomas Coville as Technical Advisor of the MC²60. America’s Cup, Sydney-Hobart, Mini-Transat, Orma 60, Imoca 60, Route du Rhum, Transat Jacques Vabre, Figaro, Vendée Globe, Trophée Jules Verne, Volvo Ocean Race, Atlantic crossing solo record, 24 hours solo speed record, three solo Round The World attempts, Thomas is 'certainly the most complete racing sailor of his generation' (Edito Voiles & Voiliers Magazine May 2011). 'Many top names from the French offshore multihulls racing world are involved in the design, conception and equipment of the MC²60. It was therefore logical to associate a great skipper whose experience as a solo sailor is invaluable in sharing with us and advising us on technical choices’’ comments Raphael Blot, in charge of developing the MC² series. 'Although the official announcement is made only today, Thomas was involved pretty much from the start of the project'. Thomas Coville adds: 'The design brief of the MC²60 is obviously different than that of a maxi racing multihull but there are some areas such as safety, ease of solo or shorthanded handling where the experience we have accumulated over the years can be valuable to the MC²60. Technical choices that have been tested and approved during solo circumnavigations belong on board a high performance cruising catamaran.' Splash date for hull number one is planned for September 2012 in Hong Kong while Hull number two, sold in Australia, will be delivered in November 2012. MC2 Catamarans Website Sodebo website
