The sailboat hardware market and the architectural rigging market are worlds apart, but in Australia they’re both dominated by one powerhouse player. Ronstan’s end-to-end design, manufacture and distribution operation has grown to become the only serious competitor. This was confirmed at the Victoria Marine Industry Awards where Ronstan not only took out best manufactured product category but also the supreme award of Victoria Exporter of the Year.
Alistair Murray MD of Ronstan said 'in the current market when we are all driving our businesses so hard and constantly reviewing strategy, winning awards such as this makes it worthwhile and acknowledges the efforts, innovation and tenacity of my management team and great employees. We work hard at Ronstan to maintain a quality operation and our move to new premises last year certainly has put us into a significant position to grow our business further.
Times are tough out there and winning awards such as this certainly cements our position as the key player in our market. It is also welcoming to see the Victoria government and in particular Minister Dalla-Riva acknowledging the importance of the marine sector to the Victorian economy and developing a comprehensive strategy to ensure our industry becomes a thriving, competitive industry and a national leader.
'Companies are hurting out there with the high Australian dollar, high costs of manufacturing and low global demand so the governments support for our industry is extremely timely and critical.'
Ronstan are a founding member of AIMEX (the Australian International Marine Export Group) and Alistair Murray is the current Chairman of this group which is certainly providing excellent support and assistance to Australian manufacturers who export. In the current economic climate AIMEX is certainly an essential ingredient for successful exporting and companies like Ronstan continue to provide inspiration for others in the marine industry.
