Sail-World.com : Navico’s all-new BR24 Broadband Radar

Navico’s all-new BR24 Broadband Radar

'Navico BR24 Broadband Radar'    Navico

Following the award-winning success of the BR24 Broadband Radar, Navico has launched its all-new Broadband 3G Radar.

Navico’s Broadband 3G marks another huge leap forward in the capacity of FMCW radar with a massive 30 per cent increase in both range and target detection without compromise to its already outstanding close range capabilities.

With twice the RF transmit power of the BR24 at the antenna, objects such as small fibreglass boats and channel markers can be seen from a distance of up to 30 per cent further away right up until the moment they pass safely within less than two metres of the vessel, allowing the safest navigation possible in all states of visibility.

Broadband 3G users also benefit from Instant On, which enables the radar to power-up instantly from standby – and in less than 16 seconds from a full power down (1/10 of the time required for that of a conventional radar). Similar to BR24, the unit also boasts lower power consumption than its rivals.

More importantly, Broadband 3G (along with the BR24) transmits at 1/10,000 the power of typical pulse radars – emitting five times less energy than an average mobile phone – and emits no harmful radiation outside the dome, allowing for flexible installation on a range of vessels.

Compatible with Lowrance’s HDS multifunction displays, Simrad Yachting’s full range of brilliant NS navigation systems (NSO Offshore, NSE Expert, and NSS Sport), and B and G’s sailing-specific Zeus, Broadband 3G Radar is suitable for everything from small fishing, sailing and pleasure boats through to large superyachts and commercial vessels.

Navico’s Broadband 3G Radar will be available in Australia in the second half of 2011. RRP across all three brands – B and G, Lowrance and Simrad – from AU$1999.
