Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
A major success story of this year’s Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show is the continuation of the longstanding partnership between round the world yacht race organisers, Clipper Ventures and marine clothing specialists, Henri Lloyd.
Getting back on board as the Official Technical Clothing Supplier, Henri Lloyd will supply the non-professional Clipper Round the World Yacht Race crew with the latest GORE-TEX® Pro Shell with OCEAN TECHNOLOGY® clothing for both the 11-12 and 13-14 editions of the race. The two race deal makes Henri Lloyd the first official sponsor to sign up for the Clipper 13-14 Round the World Yacht Race which will see the introduction of the new Clipper 70 race fleet.
Henri Lloyd’s extensive experience will provide the crews with the very best in extreme foul weather gear protection as Paul Strzelecki, Joint Chief Executive of Henri Lloyd, explains.
'We are proud to continue our support of the Clipper Round the World race over the next three years. Having worked with many offshore sailing teams to ensure our technical clothing is up to the challenges of extreme racing, we are confident that the crews will be warm and dry in our latest range of GORE-TEX® Pro Shell as they race around the globe.'
The Clipper Race is the only event of its kind in which people from all walks of life can race around the globe, regardless of previous sailing experience. At 40,000 miles, the Clipper 11-12 Race is the longest global ocean race and will see the crews racing through some of the harshest weather systems imaginable, such as the series of low depressions that sweep across the North Pacific.
Clipper Race founder and Chairman, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston is no stranger to the types of weather the crews will face and understands the importance of having the right clothing for the conditions.
'Henri Lloyd has been our Official Technical Clothing Partner for the last three editions of the Clipper Race and this new two-race deal demonstrates our belief that they are the best choice for kitting out our crews. Whilst those taking part in the race are non-professional sailors, the oceans do not know this and the Clipper crews will race through conditions that can make the hardiest and most seasoned sailors think twice. As such they need clothing that is up to the challenge and we are therefore extremely pleased to have Henri Lloyd back on board.'
With the Clipper 11-12 Race all but sold out, crew now signing up for the Clipper 13-14 Race will also be protected by Henri Lloyd’s OCEAN TECHNOLOGY® foul weather gear as they become the first people to race around the world on board the brand new fleet of Clipper 70s.
