The Vendée Globe is unquestionably one of the most difficult races on sailors and equipment. The non-stop single-handed around the world race takes the best of both just to finish, let alone reach the podium.
Navtec, the rigging division of Lewmar, was chosen by all three podium finishers to supply their fibre rigging solutions. Navtec worked closely with the mast makers and technical teams of Macif, Banque Populaire and Hugo Boss to customise a rigging package that would be light-weight, low windage and reliable enough to power them through the Doldrums, as well as the gruelling Southern Ocean.
Navtec supplied each boat with its proven Z-System and Bi-conic PBO rigging, which Navtec pioneered in the highly technical and cutting-edge fibre rigging market.
