'Fountaine Pajot provides some spectacular sights for French local motorists'

The recent transport of a Fontaine Pajot catamaran from a little village called Aigrefeuille to the coast caused the traffic to slow down and attracted lots of interest along the way. Fountaine Pajot has two separate factories in France from where it constructs its sail and Trawler Power catamarans that range in size from 35 to 80 feet. Catamaran models up to 48 feet are built at Fountaine Pajot’s shipyard in Aigrefeuille, a little village located 20km inland from the Atlantic Coast harbour. Larger catamarans including Fountaine Pajot’s Flagship range are constructed at the company’s La Rochelle shipyard located on the coast. From the inland Aigrefeuille, factory, Fountaine Pajot has significantly invested in the local economy. However, without access to the French waterways, the company has a rather spectacular and entertaining system in place to transport finished catamarans to the harbour.
 | Fontaine Pajot 2 - Multihull Solutions | A specialty transport vehicle is carefully loaded with the catamaran, and under police escort (who often have to dismantle traffic signs along the way) the convoy carefully navigates the French lanes and traffic all the way to the Port les Minimes. Fortunately the French are rarely in a hurry, so the locals are relatively nonplussed about the inevitable traffic delays!
