Grand Pavois - Asia to be represented for the first time

'Grand Pavois 2014'    JM. Rieupeyrout

For the first time, the Grand Pavois will host an Asian country. In fact, China, more particularly the city of Dalian, which is in Liaoning Province on the Korean border of north-eastern China, will be guests of honour at the Show. It's a chance for visitors to the Grand Pavois to discover this province, whose second city is Dalian, also known as the Hong Kong of the North. Located in the gulf of Bohai in the south of Liaoning, Dalian and its port, China's third largest, represent an important potential watersports market. Many Chinese businesses involved in watersports are situated in the region, and from June 19 - 26 2015, Dalian will host the seventh Dalian International Boat Show.

French companies will be exhibiting, thanks to the platform of economic cooperation arranged by the Département of Charente-Maritime, the idea being to allow a first approach to the north Chinese market, and to introduce Charentaise (Ed. meaning from the Charente-Maritime region) companies to the area.

Created at the initiative of the Département, its Horizon China strategy brings together the Charente-Maritime's economic partners in order to share and exchange economic and trade information and experiences in China. To date, this platform has enabled some thirty companies to engage in trade with Chinese economic partners, and it does not intend to stop there. A French-style sailing school has also been established, so as to create a watersports culture virtually non-existent at present in northern China. This watersports culture will develop, as the Chinese begin to sail, and as we begin to see Chinese crews in international races (Volvo Ocean Race,etc.).

At the Grand Pavois, there will be no need to travel the 8,000 km between us and China to spend six days in a completely different environment. It's a good opportunity to meet exhibitors who will display their expertise, answering all visitors' questions and meeting all their desires, whether they're about watersports, tourism, the craft industry or local foods. Six days to revel in the atmosphere of a country with ambitious plans for watersports, and one which is enjoying continued growth!
