Endeavour Quay, the Gosport boat yard, is pleased to announce it is experiencing a comparatively busy period during what is traditionally a quiet time of year. The increase in activity includes a rise in the number of 'business to business' and commercial vessels being lifted in the 180 tonne hoist, and stored in the 40m boat sheds.
Premium motor boat manufacturers Pearl and Princess are both utilising the superb facilities at Endeavour Quay to carry out work. Princess Motor Yachts have a long established relationship with Endeavour Quay, which this summer sees the largest Princess in the Solent, an MY98 going undercover for work on its teak deck.

Pearl Motor Yachts first used Endeavour Quay in 2012 for the fit out of Pearl 75 hull No1; the relationship is cemented this summer as they return to Gosport for the fitting out of the new Pearl 65 and Pearl 75 hull No2. The company will be utilising the 'Open Yard Policy' and bringing in their own teams to carry out the work which includes an exterior hull wrap.
Iain Smallridge of Pearl Motor Yachts commented, 'We are looking forward to completing more of our production at Endeavour Quay. The facilities and location make it the perfect solution for our requirements. Tim and his team couldn’t be more helpful and we fully intend to fit out, commission and test all of our larger models here in the future.'
With its central south coast location, just minutes from The Solent and less than ten miles from the yachting hub of Cowes, Endeavour Quay is excited to be welcoming back Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing and Team SCA in addition to these luxury motor yachts. Both Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 teams will be visiting Gosport with their VOR65 yachts as they prepare for their first competitive race during Cowes Week and later, the Round Britain and Ireland Race. The teams will be carrying out final servicing works on site prior to relocating to Alicante, Spain in time for the first leg of the Volvo Ocean Race in October. Alex Thomson Racing will also be back at Endeavour Quay with the Open 60 yachts Neutrogena and Hugo Boss following their recent success in the IMOCA Ocean Masters Championship New York City to Barcelona race.
Tim Newell, Boatyard Manager, commented, 'This increase in yard traffic is not only beneficial to Endeavour Quay and the on-site marine service providers, but because of the Open Yard Policy, some off-site businesses too. These clients and the workforce that they bring in feed the local industry supply chain, from hotels, restaurants and the high street to the small marine service providers in Gosport; it’s all great news for the area.'
The Open Yard Policy, 40m boat sheds, 180 tonne travel hoist and on-site service providers mean Endeavour Quay is one of the best equipped maintenance and refit yards in the area. Combined with the 24 hour access, deep water and no air draft restriction, larger motor vessels and sailing yachts alike can all benefit from the facilities and services available.
