Whittley wins Victorian Industry Achiever award

Whittley Marine Group has won the Victorian marine industry’s highest accolade at the 2009 Victorian Marine Industry Awards.

The respected family-owned company was named 2009 Industry Achiever at the awards, presented by the BIA of Victoria.

Whittley was one of six companies honoured at the IC Frith Marine Industry Awards Breakfast during the BIA Melbourne Boat Show.

The Industry Achiever this year is a “best of the best” award selected from the eight individual award category winners.

Whittley had already won the Exporter Award, while two other BIA members also enjoyed double wins.

Leon & Paul Savage’s Streaker Boats won both the Marine Manufacturer of Vessels and the Retailer of the Year awards, and Multi-Panel won the awards for Marine Manufacturer of Marine Related Products and Business Innovation.

Others honoured in the Victorian Marine Industry Awards were: Damien Hall of Mercury Marine as apprentice of the Year; VMR Mornington for Safety Initiative by an Organisation; and Sandringham Yacht Club for the Environment Award.

Judges for this year’s Awards were BIA Victoria President Gordon Howlett, IC Frith & Associates Victorian manager Paul Mattiassi, Parks Victoria Manager of Bays and Maritime Initiative Chris Hardman and Marine Safety Victoria Acting Manager of Safety Education Marianne Doyle.
