Australian Sailing Editor Vanessa Dudley has resigned from Yaffa’s Australian Sailing Magazine. A high performance sailor of note ‘Duds’ has sailed everything from Laser Radials to fast ocean racers. She's won Dinghy National titles and sailed in 15 Sydney to Hobart races.

This week she wrote ‘It's true that I've often been nicknamed 'araldite' for grabbing hold of a boat's helm and not letting go. However, after almost six years it is time to relinquish the helm here at Australian Sailing and let someone else hold the handle.

‘I love the magazine that Bob Ross started back in 1976 and it has been a real honour to serve as editor. Australian Sailing occupies a special place in the Australian sailing community and long may that be so. Thank you to everyone who has been so generous with great stories, photos, sailing events, assistance and support.

‘Roger McMillan has come aboard as editor and is taking over the helm on Monday June 29, while Bob Ross retains his role as editor at large.

‘Roger has had an active involvement in all aspects of sailing. He's recently sailed his 37ft Van de Stadt from the west coast to Sydney and has raced at as many clubs as possible along the way.

‘I am starting a new role with NSW Maritime, still in the marine field, and I will also look forward to continuing as a contributor with Australian Sailing, especially with the Master Class column about my progress in the Laser Radial.’

From the view point of our Sail-World and Marine BusinessNews Teams, we've always seen Vanessa as being a strong hand on the tiller; she is a very well credentialed writer who understands racing sailing and who has worked very hard to deliver consistently good magazines.

She will be missed.

Well sailed mate!
