Multihull racing is set to gain new support with the announcement of a new major sponsor for one of the year’s biggest multihull events.

Multihull Solutions – Australia and New Zealand’s leading offshore and cruising multihull specialist – is officially the new major sponsor of the 2010 Brisbane to Gladstone Multihull Yacht Race.

Starting at 11am on Friday, April 2 (Good Friday) from the southern end of Waterloo Bay in Moreton Bay, the Multihull Solutions Brisbane to Gladstone Multihull Yacht Race is expected to attract a record number of entries.

This multihull division of the 2010 Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race is organised by the Multihull Yacht Club Queensland, and is open to catamarans and trimarans that are seaworthy, adequately crewed and comply with current YA Special Regulations (Blue Book 2009-2012) Category 2.

Notice of Race, entry forms and sailing instructions for the 308nm race are available from the MYCQ website at www.mycq.org.au.

Multihull Solutions managing director Mark Elkington said the company was excited to be part of the popular event.

“We are always looking for ways to support the sport of sailing, and the Multihull Solutions Brisbane to Gladstone Multihull Yacht Race is a great platform to showcase the exceptional safety and offshore performance of catamarans, and it provides new owners with the opportunity to compete,” Mr Elkington said.

The presentation lunch for the event will be held on Easter Sunday at Port Curtis Sailing Club in Gladstone, where trophies will be awarded over a fun-filled afternoon of lunch and social activities.
