AIMEX Awards receive 26 entries

The 2009 Australian Marine Industry Export Awards have received an overwhelming response with AIMEX announcing they have received 26 entries for this year’s awards.

CEO MaryAnne Edwards stated: 'This is an amazing result given in previous years AMIF have struggled to get entries in the export category. It is always hard as people are so busy working in their business; taking time out to complete applications is not seen as a priority.'

The five industry identities appointed to judge the export awards include John Savage, Ian Murray, Graeme Avers, Leigh Wilmott and Barry Jenkins. 'AIMEX is confident that we have put together a top quality panel of judges with a broad range of experience that covers the marine industry, exporting, government, manufacturing and business,' said Edwards.

The judges have reviewed all applications and advised they were impressed by the number of applications and the spread of businesses that have entered. Obviously exporters understand the value of marketing and being involved in awards that can provide profile and prestige for their business in the global arena.

The major sponsors for the awards are the Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research (DIISR), Austrade, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and FGI. Supporting sponsors include Exhibitek Displays, Shipmate Marine Directory, Ultimate Boating & Lifestyle Magazine, Marine Business and Boating Business.

The winners will be announced at the AIMEX networking function to be held on Thursday July 30th in Sydney.

Categories for the 2009 Australian Marine Industry Export Awards are:

1. Most Innovative Marine Industry Exported Product or Service
2. Most Environmentally Friendly Marine Industry Exported Product, Service or Company
3. Marine Industry Export Champion
4. Best Marine Industry Export Performance in 2008
5. Best Marine Industry Export Marketing Strategy
6. Marine Industry Exporter of the Year
